Tbilisi (GBC) - The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports, that Credo Bank was fined with 30,000 GEL. Bank Credo was sanctioned for ignoring several requirements of the AML Law (https://www.fms.gov.ge/Uploads/files/AML_Law_Geo_16.01.2023.pdf?fbclid=IwAR1EBCrdjyzAYCjC1enZV5Cub6D-n3-wkgo5RiTQKTU6ogs9fkp6dE--XPQ).
Also, the bank's politician towards the client, for non-fulfilment of the obligations stipulated by the same law (Article 21 of the law was enacted this year).
Enhanced monitoring, including increasing the number of risk management measures, was not conducted.
Credo belongs to the category of regional bank, it stays away from the system-creating banks. Accordingly, the NBG does not impose additional capital requirements.
However, it approaches the largest banks in terms of profitability and asset growth.
