Tbilisi (GBC) - Tbilisi City Court sentenced former Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili to eight months in prison and banned him from holding public office for two years for failing to comply with Parliament’s temporary investigative commission demands.
Judge Tamar Mchedlishvili announced the decision at Tbilisi City Court earlier today.
Okruashvili did not attend the hearing. According to a letter from the Penitentiary Service, the defendant had no desire to participate in the proceedings.
