TBILISI (GBC) - Azerbaijan Prime Minister Ali Asadov said on Wednesday during a speech at the Silk Road Forum that Azerbaijan supplies natural gas to up to 10 European countries via Georgia. He was referring to the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline, of which TAP is a part, which supplies Azerbaijani gas to southern European countries.
"Energy cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan will not only bring economic benefits to our countries, but will also help us achieve joint strategic goals. Azerbaijan's initiative and Georgia's project have already become an important aspect of European security. Azerbaijan natural gas is supplied to many countries, including 10 European states. We owe this success to Georgia," Asadov said.
Asadov also noted that Azerbaijan and Georgia are strong partners in providing renewable energy sources in the context of the transport of Caspian and Black Sea energy carriers.
According to the Azerbaijan Prime Minister, this is an example of a common vision and commitment between the two neighboring countries.
“Multilateral cooperation strengthens regional stability, mutual trust and long-term partnership. We believe that new initiatives will be implemented in the field of transport, logistics and transit. As a result, our joint efforts in the coming years will increase and further develop our geopolitical stability and importance. We are ready to build open and mutually beneficial cooperation mechanisms,” the head of the Azerbaijan government said.
Tbilisi Silk Road Forum is being held for the fifth time on October 22-23 and is attended by about 2,000 delegates.
“Tbilisi Silk Road Forum” has been held every two years since 2015. During this period, the forum has developed into an international brand and a high-level platform for dialogue between governments of different countries, as well as for bilateral and multilateral meetings between organizations and business representatives.
