Tbilisi (GBC) - At the end of 1Q25 the number of bovine animals decreased by 4.9 percent compared to the I quarter of 2024 and reached 861.1 thousand heads. Of which, the total number of dairy cows and buffaloes equaled 396.3 thousand heads, which is 4.3 percent less than the same indicator of the previous year, according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The number of pigs equaled to 152 thousand heads which is 2.2 percent less than at the same period of the previous year.

The number of poultry increased by 11.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and equaled 8.5 million heads.

According to Geostat, in the I quarter of 2025 milk production decreased by 3.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 108.5 million litres. Meat production decreased by 6.4 percent from the same period of the previous year and equaled 7.5 thousand tons. In the I quarter of 2025 egg production amounted to 172.0 million pieces which is 2.2 percent more han in the same period of the previous year.
