Tbilisi (GBC) - Member of "Strong Georgia" and National Teacher Award winner Roland Shavadze stated at a briefing held on Monday: "By order of the Minister of Education, the so-called ODR institute is returning to public schools. The Minister signed the respective order on March 12."
As Shavadze noted, this concerns increasing the authority of resource centers, based on which the heads of educational resource centers were granted the right to appoint a representative - an officer in their subordinate schools who, according to his assessment, "supposedly ensures the protection of personal data in schools."
"By order of the Minister of Education, the so-called ODR institute is returning to public schools. The Minister signed the respective order on March 12. This concerns increasing the authority of resource centers, based on which the heads of educational resource centers were granted the right to appoint a representative - an officer in their subordinate schools who supposedly ensures the protection of personal data in schools. In reality, the purpose of this decision is to put teachers and school principals, who are already subordinated to government interests, under even more pressure.
This is a pure Russian 'KGB-style' model, where the state restricts creative freedom in educational institutions and appoints a person who controls every nuance and works to spread propaganda for a specific force, in this case, the 'Georgian Dream'," - Shavadze noted at today's briefing.
