Tbilisi (GBC) - During the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s annual meeting, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili delivered a speech at the bank’s governors’ business session.
He highlighted Georgia’s recent economic growth, efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability, and progress in structural reforms.
Khutsishvili emphasised Georgia’s role as a founding member of the AIIB, underscoring the importance of ongoing cooperation with member countries. He reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to active engagement with the bank.
“Georgia has demonstrated exceptional resilience and is steadily progressing towards its strategic goals, including completing key infrastructure projects, enhancing connectivity along the Middle Corridor, and developing human capital. Over the past four years, Georgia’s economy has grown at an average annual rate of over 9.5 per cent and is expected to maintain high growth into 2025. In this challenging environment, our priorities remain macroeconomic stability, mitigating adverse impacts, and ensuring the sustainability of structural reforms and strategic investments,” Khutsishvili stated.
The minister also outlined prospects for future collaboration, highlighting the significance of digital finance, climate-smart infrastructure, and measures to support the private sector.
Khutsishvili extended his gratitude to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for hosting the event, as well as to the AIIB and its leadership for their support of Georgia. He expressed readiness to deepen cooperation to advance shared objectives and strengthen Georgia’s role as a strategic connector between Europe and Asia.
